What is the Discovery Call about?

This is the most important step before signing your child up as it helps you determine whether your child and Ascans are a good fit. We welcome students and supportive parents who align with our like-minded community of motivated learners who strive forward together. It's our way of ensuring the best environment for every child before you commit to anything.

You'll also receive a full walkthrough of how our classes work, including a personalised learning plan, proposed schedule, and an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

During the call, we'll learn more about your child's learning habits, challenges and goals so we can advice and tailor the right approach for their success. We look forward to seeing you!

What are the class sizes like?

We keep our class sizes intentionally small — typically 5 to 8 students — so your child gets the focused attention they need to stay engaged and participate actively in every session.

What’s the weekly time commitment like?

Our weekly structure balances live interaction with independent learning for maximum impact without overwhelming your child.

Your child will spend about 3 hours per week, including:

1 live lesson (1.5 hours)

Approximately 1.5 hours of homework practice

How your child splits the homework time is flexible — it’s up to them. Our best recommendation is to break it into shorter study sessions for active recall, such as 30 minutes per session or 45 minutes twice a week. This approach helps reinforce learning effectively and builds lasting understanding.

What if my child misses a lesson/ replacement sessions?

If your child misses a lesson, they can watch the recorded session and treat it just like a live class. They can still reach out to their teacher during the week for any questions or help needed to clarify misunderstandings, ensuring they stay on track.

Replacement sessions for lessons falling on public holidays will be scheduled and announced closer to the date to keep you well informed and ensure your child doesn’t miss out on learning.

What are the technical requirements for online classes?

To ensure a smooth and interactive experience, students will need: A desktop or laptop with a webcam, or an iPad with a camera. A quiet, dedicated space for learningA stable internet connection of at least 25 Mbps to avoid lag or disruptions during class

How do payments work?

Fees are billed monthly, and you’ll receive a secure link for online payment. Details will be discussed during your Discovery Call.

What if we decide that we are not a good fit?

We understand that circumstances can change. If you choose to discontinue, just let us know at least 2 lessons in advance, and we’ll ensure the month is wrapped up smoothly — including final feedback, progress notes, and any unused credit discussions — so your child ends on a positive and complete note.

Are trial classes available?

We don’t offer one-off trial lessons. Instead, your child’s learning style and needs will be assessed during a Discovery Call to ensure a good fit before starting.

What support is available outside of class time?

Students can submit work between sessions for feedback. Our tutors also provide extra guidance, especially closer to exams or if a child needs more help on a concept.

How will I know if my child is improving?

We provide monthly progress updates that cover your child’s academic growth, confidence, and learning goals. You’ll always be kept in the loop.

What curriculum do you follow?

Our Mathematics program is aligned with the Singapore MOE syllabus, while also stretching your child’s thinking with deeper problem-solving and reasoning skills. Your child’s personalized roadmap is adapted based on school level and needs.

What subjects do you offer?

We currently specialize in Mathematics for Primary 4 to Primary 6 students — the crucial upper primary years that lay the foundation for success in major exams and shape your child’s post-primary options. These are the years where strong thinking habits, conceptual clarity, and confidence make the biggest difference, and our program is designed to support exactly that.

Who are the teachers?

Currently, all classes are personally conducted by our founder and lead tutor, who brings deep subject expertise and a caring, relationship-focused approach. This ensures your child receives personalised coaching and direct attention every lesson.
As Ascans grows, we plan to carefully expand our team, maintaining the high-quality, bespoke experience you and your child expect.

How do I get started?

The first step is a free Discovery Call, where we learn about your child, walk you through the program, and share a personalised recommendation — including scheduling, learning goals, and fit.
